Sunday School (English Speaking)

Classes are conducted in a classroom setting with trained teachers and parent volunteers who teach from curriculum approved by church council and the Sydney diocese of Australia.  The teachers are volunteers from the congregation, many of whom are professional educators.  Sunday School normally operates in term time and includes occasional Youth-led Services with the entire congregation.

Menteng

The Menteng Sunday School has one primary-age class (Grade 1-6) and one secondary age class (SMP & SMA). Children begin in church with their parents at 9am and leave after the first part of the service.

South Jakarta

Our South Jakarta Sunday School has three classes: Ages 5-7, Ages 8-11, and Ages 12-17. Children begin in church with their parents at 10:30am and join their group after the first part of the service.

Holy Communion

The basis for Holy Communion comes from the Passover meal shared among Jesus and his disciples just before the His arrest.

In the Anglican Church, Holy Communion is both an encouragement to the journeying Christian and a celebration of the communion each Christian has with God and with one another.

Anyone, from any church, who has been baptised and is in good standing with that church, is welcome to receive Holy Communion at any of our services.

If you would like more information about Holy Communion, please speak with one of the ministers.

Baptism

Baptism is a public sign of joining Jesus’ church. There would be few Anglicans or Christians however, who would regard Baptism as only that.

Baptism is a sacrament where God is at work, an outward and visible sign of the inward and invisible action in which God engages, as the person being baptised makes promises in the way that they seek to live and are then “washed” in the waters of baptism. This marks the beginning of a new relationship with God and the person who has been baptised.

Because the baptism service involves making significant promises to God concerning the Christian faith, good preparation is essential, and so we require all baptism candidates (and the parents of baptism candidates who are children and teenagers) to be regular attenders at one of our Sunday services as well as participating in a baptism preparation course.

If you would like more information about baptism, either your own or for your children, please speak with one of the ministers.

Confirmation

Confirmation is available for adults or young people aged 15 and over when the bishop comes.

Because the confirmation service involves making significant promises to God concerning the Christian faith, good preparation is essential, and so we require all confirmation candidates to be regular attenders at one of our Sunday services as well as participating in a confirmation preparation course.

If you are interested in Confirmation, please speak to one of the ministers at church.
