How you can help the ministry of All Saints Church This page gives some basic information about how All Saints is financed. We hope it will help you take a share in this part of our life together.
Where does All Saints get its money from? From us, the members of past and present congregations. This is our only source of income. We don't get any grants from embassies, or from the diocese. All our income comes from what our members put in the offering bag or give in other ways.
What does All Saints do with the money? We pay the clergy, and staff, there are maintenance costs for the church and the vicarages, rental for the S. Jakarta vicarage and the rooms at Don Bosco, office overheads, contributions to GAI, and so on.
Are we receiving enough? For many years we have seen the Lord supply our needs through the generosity of members. Last year we met our budget and put money aside for reserves. This year we have extra costs connected with the arrival of our new Associate Minister. At the moment we need to increase the regular giving so that more people share in giving more, more regularly. We especially want to increase our US dollar giving. Because of the turnover of people in Jakarta we also want to encourage new members to share in the costs of All Saints. For more details ask one of the members of Church Council.
What about Outreach Projects? Our Outreach Ministries are also supported by the generous gifts of members and friends of All Saints. Outreach has had reduced budgets for the last year or so. We urge members to give to both Outreach and All Saints. More information about Outreach is available on the Outreach page.
How can I give? Direct transfers and standing orders are our preferred choice. You can do this by filling in a form at your bank, or, depending on your bank, via ATM [or the phone banking service], free of charge. Internet banking is also an easy option.
* Standing Order You can instruct your bank here in Indonesia to make a regular contribution each week or month or quarter. All you need to do is fill out a form. We can help you with that if necessary. Direct transfers and standing orders are the preferred choice for US dollar giving because of the fussiness about the quality of notes on the part of banks and money changers.
Here are some other ways to give:
* Giving Envelopes Envelopes are available so that you can plan your giving both to All Saints Church Council and to our Outreach Program. We do not keep a record of envelope givers. They are provided to help you give in a planned and regular way, especially if you cannot come each week.
* Cash You can give any amount in cash in any currency, although we prefer Rupiah and clean unbent US dollars.
* Cheque If you want to give by a cheque drawn on your home bank, that's fine. However, charges for clearing cheques are quite heavy, so it's best to give one big cheque not quite so often, rather than frequent cheques for smaller amounts.
Confidentiality We keep all gifts confidential.
“But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing., so that your alms may be done in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you." (Matthew 6:3-4)
Special arrangements for US Taxpayers
Charitable contributions made in US Dollars outside the US are tax deductible if they are made to an IRS approved charity – and that includes All Saints. To claim this, send your check or bank draft to Ms. June Victor, Assistant to the Treasurer, The Domestic and Foreign Missionary Society of the Protestant Episcopal Church, 815 Second Ave., New York, NY 10017-4594, USA.
You should also send a letter saying something like this:
Dear Ms. Victor,
I hereby give to The Domestic and Foreign Missionary Society of the Protestant Episcopal Church in the United States of America a gift in the amount of US$ __________ . My check is enclosed. As a preference, though not as a condition of my gift, I request that these funds be used to support All Saints Anglican Church, Jl. Arif Rachman Hakim 5, Menteng, Jakarta, Indonesia.
Thank you.
Sincerely yours,
