A Reformed Church
All Saints is an Anglican church. The Anglican Church traces its roots back through the Reformation of the Church of England to the church of Jesus and the apostles. It is one of the Churches that were significantly changed by the Protestant Reformation.
Archbishop Thomas Cranmer and the other English Reformers left three great foundations for the Anglican Church:
Together with the three ancient creeds, these have given the Anglican church its great theological and spiritual strength. These four foundations describe the heart and source of Anglican belief. However the 39 Articles point to the Bible as the supreme authority in matters of faith. They also point to the three great creeds, which state doctrines that all Christians have believed to be true.
You can read the original version of the Articles, a simplified modern version and a version in Bahasa Indonesia here. A simple explanation of the 39 Articles can be found here. An explanation in Bahasa Indonesia is here. |

SIMPLIFIED ENGLISH We, then, following the holy Fathers, and all in agreement, teach everyone to confess one and the same Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, the same perfect in Godhead and also perfect in manhood; truly God and truly man, of a reasonable [rational] soul and body; consubstantial [of the same essence or being] with the Father according to the Godhead, and consubstantial [of the same nature or substance] with us according to the Manhood; in all things like us, without sin; begotten before all ages of the Father according to the Godhead, and in these latter days, for us and for our salvation, born of the Virgin Mary, the Bearer of God, according to the Manhood; one and the same Christ, Son, Lord, Only-begotten, to be acknowledged in two natures, that are not confused, that are not changed, that are not divided, that are not separated; the distinction of natures is not taken away by the union, but rather the property of each nature is preserved, and occurs together in one Person and one Being, not parted or divided into two persons, but one and the same Son, and only begotten, God the Word, the Lord Jesus Christ, as the prophets from the beginning [have declared] concerning him, and the Lord Jesus Christ himself has taught us, and the Creed of the holy Fathers has handed down to us. |
