Mothers

May 10,  2009  - Ian

Today (10th May) in many countries around the world is mothers Day. The modern Mother's Day holiday was created by Anna Jarvis as a day for each family to honor its mother and it's now celebrated on various days in many places around the world.

Celebrate mothers.

Quotes:

“The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new.”- Rajneesh

“When you are a mother, you are never really alone in your thoughts. A mother always has to think twice, once for herself and once for her child”. - Sophia Loren

Motherhood is a wonder ‘institution’. It comes from God and is a gift to us all – most of us love our mums/moms. Motherhood is often a long period of sacrificial giving of time, love and care. Good mothers are great examples of God’s love for us. Thank God for your mother and grandmother and pray for those who are mothers and grandmothers for wisdom and grace and pray for those women who would like to be mothers but are not able. Pray that God will help us forgive our mums when they weren’t perfect and pray that God will help our moms forgive us for our sins.

Some humour: Things Mom Would Never Say

  • "How on earth can you see the TV sitting so far back?"

  • "Yeah, I used to skip school a lot, too"

  • "Just leave all the lights on ... it makes the house look more cheery"

  • "Let me smell that shirt -- Yeah, it's good for another week"

  • "Go ahead and keep that stray dog, honey. I'll be glad to feed and walk him every day"

  • "Well, if Jeffrey's mom says it's OK, that's good enough for me."

  • "The curfew is just a general time to shoot for. It's not like I'm running a prison around here."

  • "I don't have a tissue with me ... just use your sleeve"

  • "Don't bother wearing a jacket - the wind-chill is bound to improve"

Grandma on the Plane
For two solid hours, the lady sitting next to a man on an airplane had told him about her grandchildren. She had even produced a plastic-foldout photo album of all nine of the children.
She finally realized that she had dominated the entire conversation on her grandchildren.
"Oh, I've done all the talking, and I'm so sorry. I know you certainly have something to say. Please, tell me... what do you think of my grandchildren?"
