Triumphal processions

April 12,  2009  - Ian

But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him” 2 Corinthians 2:14

Last Sunday we reflected on the triumphal procession of Jesus on a donkey into Jerusalem. This week we think on the victory parade of Jesus from out of the grave.

The verse from 2 Corinthians refers to the practise of the 1st Century where the conquering general would have those conquered march before him to be ridiculed by the crowds and then the victors would be cheered and honoured.

Jesus is the champion of the world/universe

He defeated death.

He demonstrates his ultimate power against even our worst enemies.

He gained victory over sin and the law.

He became God’s champion – God’s Lord and Christ.

He showed the principalities and powers of this physical world and the spiritual world who is boss.

He has smashed the forces of evil; Satan and his demons.

He has struck a winning blow against those who sought his ridicule and downfall.

He secured our salvation.

He brought justice.

He ensures that he will return to judge.

He demonstrated vindication from God.

He makes secure the renewal of this sin affected universe.

He prevails for our forgiveness.

He completed assurance of eternal life.

He was declared the Son of God.

He was declared the Son of God with power.

What a great saviour.

Why would you look elsewhere for someone to do more for you?

Celebrate Jesus’ triumph.

HE HAS RISEN – HE HAS RISEN INDEED!
