Life is not Fair! June 8, 2008 - Ian
Life is an important topic in
our world at the moment. Life for many students currently is all about exams but
soon it will be about life on holidays. Life is struggling in Myanmar. Life is
getting harder and so a world summit is now being held on how to care for the
poor. Life is more expensive and so there protests about the cost of living.
Life is not fair!
At the point of the ending of a life, at the death of one that we love, or in a dramatic disaster such as the Sichuan Earthquake in China recently, most of us look more closely at life and see that it is unfair; that is harsh, fleeting and is so soon followed by death. This should make us re-evaluate life.
In a poll taken in China by Sohu.com, after the recent earthquake, 88% of people, even though they were young people, said that they would rethink life, 82.1% said that they would cherish life more and 70.7% said that they would do more to help the needy. Jesus said: “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10:10)
Death ends life. But by trusting in Jesus, life will never end. And through Jesus, one day, all the unfairness of life will be removed. All this comes through the one who unfairly died but now lives. He lives so that we may live. He died so that we do not die. For Jesus, we should re-evaluate our life. Ian
